Perhaps the biggest news to come to AT&T's flagship platform is the exclusive Christmas "day-and-date" premiere of DC superhero sequel "Wonder Woman 1984" on HBO Max and in cinemas, where safe. This comes with three big announcements for the studio and the streamer. First, is the news that HBO Max is now available on Amazon Fire devices (no word yet on Roku support). "WW84" will also stream in 4K HDR, with full support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Finally, and perhaps the most earth-shattering of all, is that the studio plans on releasing all their 2021 movies in this method. This is sad news for exhibitors, but with the Warners going all in on this new distribution model, time will tell if it truly pays off. This also puts a fire under WarnerMedia to finally land Roku support, and even launch a native app for LG Smart TVs.

Beyond "Wonder Woman," HBO subscribers can also look forward to the streaming debuts of early 2020 theatrical hits "The Photograph" (12/5) and "Wendy" (12/19). The romance drama and the kids' fantasy were among the last films to have a semblance of a normal theatrical debut before the pandemic forced theaters closed in late March.
