Ammonite - 3/5

Although it's gotten lost in the shuffle of award contenders, Francis Lee's historical romance drama "Ammonite" features much-lauded performances from leads Kate Winselt and Saoirse Ronan. Winselt portrays paleontologist Mary Anning who develops an intense relationship with geologist Charlotte Murchison (Ronan). As their love for each other grows, their lives forever change.

Ammonite

Drama / 2020 / R

Acclaimed paleontologist Mary Anning works alone selling common fossils to tourists to support her ailing mother, but a chance job offer changes her life when a visitor hires her to care for his wife.

Boss Level - 3/5

With the pandemic making each day feel just like the last, it's no surprise that many screenwriters are turning to the "Groundhog Day" formula of time loops. We've already had the fantastic rom-com "Palm Springs" (also streaming on Hulu), and Amazon's teen version of the same thing with "Map of Tiny Perfect Things." Now, director Joe Carnahan ("The Grey") gives us an action-heavy twist on the formula, as a retired special ops officer (Frank Grillo) is trapped reliving the day of his death over and over again. We're not sure how this will top "Happy Death Day" or "Edge of Tomorrow," both of which are more or less the same premise, but we give Carnahan credit for trying.

Boss Level

Action / 2021

A retired military operative finds himself in a never-ending time loop on the day of his death.

Collective - 3/25

Playing out like a real-life "Spotlight" or "All the President's Men," Romanian filmmaker Alexander Nanau follows a group of journalists who, after covering a deadly nightclub fire, uncover a web of corruption and fraud behind the country's healthcare system. "Collective" premiered to praise at the 2019 Venice International Film Festival, and is on this year's Oscar shortlist for Best Documentary and Best International Film.

Along with "Ammonite," you can look forward to the streaming premieres of recent indie hits "Farewell Amor," "Buddy Games," and "Hunter Hunter." Nostalgic gems to find this month on Hulu include a host of '90s classics. You can tune in to Academy Award-winning performances from Denzel Washington in "Malcolm X," or Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt in "As Good as It Gets." Then, get your '90s popcorn action going with Sly Stallone and Wesley Snipes in "Demolition Man," or Will Smith in "Enemy of the State." And, keep the marathon running with Clint Eastwood's Secret Service agent who's "In the Line of Fire" or Harrison Ford's CIA agent Jack Ryan in "Patriot Games."
