What to watch on Amazon this April? This month, the platform has you covered with some prime comedies and dramas, nostalgic gems and big premieres. To sum up, there's a lot to satisfy your moviewatching appetite. Happy streaming!

Unhinged - April 2nd

The number one rule of driving should always be to just let idiots do what they do, and stay out of their way. Rachel Flynn (Caren Pistorius) learns this lesson the hard way. Enroute to her son's school, Flynn is cut off by Tom (Russell Crowe) in his pickup truck. After an argument escalates, Rachel finds herself being tormented by Tom all over town. Subsequently, she'll need to fight back. Hard. Premiering several weeks before "Tenet," "Unhinged" has the odd distinction of being the first wide theatrical release in months, after theaters opened back up during the pandemic. And now that you're looking for what to watch on Amazon? And you like horror scenarios? In conclusion, this is it - our recommendation thriller viewing at home. It's much safer than out on those roadways.

Spontaneous - April 12th

The pandemic made it seem like every waking moment could be our last. While this probably wasn't something on the mind of the filmmakers back when they were making "Spontaneous," the film managed to strike an eerie chord on its October release. The dark sci-fi rom-com follows two high school seniors (Katherine Langford and Charlie Plummer) as they struggle to survive in a world where their peers inexplicably, spontaneously explode. As a result, the two decide to find love and romance by living in the moment.

Tom Clancy's Without Remorse - April 30th

We broke its trailer down for you, and now this month you'll be able to stream the film. Michael B. Jordan proves himself an action hero as a former Navy SEAL who seeks justice following the murder of his pregnant wife. Jordan plays John Clarke, who is Tom Clancy's second-most popular character after Jack Ryan. In other words, this is likely to score with audiences. Paramount was planning to set up a series of Clarke films, with "Without Remorse" kicking off the franchise. However, COVID put a bit of a wrench in those plans. Still, the film does find a fitting home next to Amazon's popular "Jack Ryan" series. With enough streams, maybe a franchise can be born. In conclusion, this is the most highly anticipated release as far as what to watch on Amazon this month.

Amazon has a prime selection of nostalgic classics and modern gems to stream all April long. For those looking for sharp political satire, there's Tom Robbins' mockumentary "Bob Roberts," which cleverly sends up Bob Dylan and his D.A. Pennebaker docs. Moreover, it features an excellent cameo of Jack Black before he was a star.

Those that enjoyed the antics of Sacha Baron Cohen's Oscar-nominated "Borat" and the "Subsequent Moviefilm," can follow that up with "Brüno." To clarify, it's more or less the same premise, and it's based on another one of Cohen's characters from "Da Ali G Show." Additional comedies now streaming include the classic rom-coms "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," "Four Weddings and a Funeral," and "So I Married an Axe Murderer." In other words, there's plenty of funny in case your bone needs to be tickled.

Lastly, Amazon has a handful of Oscar-winning films to binge before Hollywood's big night later in the month. Right now you can catch Sean Penn's Oscar-winning performance in "Milk" and Halle Berry's historic Oscar-winning turn in "Monster's Ball." There's also Marissa Tomei in "My Cousin Vinny" -- and, yes she really did win that Oscar. 2011 Best Picture winner "The Artist" streams on the 26th, while 2016 Best Picture nominee "Arrival" comes to Amazon on the 28th.
