Though it was quite a blowout yesterday at the Super Bowl, with Tampa Bay taking out Kansas City 31 to 9, one thing we were happy to see was all the new trailers for movies slated to come out later this year.
Everyone watches the Super Bowl to see which team will reign supreme, but they also watch it for the over-the-top ads and the new movie trailers.
In case you missed them or want to watch them again, we've pulled them all together here.
One of the biggest surprises this Super Bowl was the premiere of the first trailer for director M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming film "Old." The bizarre preview shows a simple family vacation at the beach quickly taking a turn for the worst as certain people (mainly children) seem to age at an alarming pace, one child going from age 6 to somewhere in his late teens while another young girl grows up and becomes pregnant out of nowhere.
Another film we're looking forward to watching is Bob Odenkirk's film "Nobody," where he channels his inner John Wick and has to break bad, after retiring from his days as an "auditor" to start a family. Now that his past is back to haunt him, with one of the thugs stealing his little girl's kitty cat bracelet, he's determined to take down every single one of these goons. With any luck, he'll still have enough time to make it home to cook his famous lasagna for the fam.
Raya and the Last Dragon
The long-awaited Disney flick that we're keeping an eye out for is the animated film "Raya and the Last Dragon." To end the ongoing war and unify their lands, a young warrior named Raya will need to find the last remaining dragon. With "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" actress Kelly Marie Tran voicing Raya and "Crazy Rich Asians" star Awkwafina voicing Sisu the dragon, we're sure it'll be an action and comedy filled treat.
You may have felt a little bit of deja vu when watching the new trailer for "F9" as weirdly enough (and COVID-predicted) there was a trailer that premiered for this film during the last Super Bowl. We're hoping this year will be a bit more stable so that we can finally see what we're hoping is a fast and furious film. They definitely give the fans what they want here, throwing fan-favorite character Han in right at the beginning of the trailer, and highlighting John Cena and Charlize Theron looking as fierce as ever. We even get a quick cameo of Helen Mirren having a great time in the driver's seat, so there's plenty to look forward to in the latest installment.
Coming 2 America
The final trailer showcases the return of the Prince-now-King Akeem Joffer. In search of the heir to his throne, Akeem returns to New York to find his long-lost son. The highlight of the video in our opinion is a barbershop scene where the old guys (played by Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall) begin to tease Akeem and Semmi (also Eddie and Arsenio). Watching the two dish it out to themselves never gets old.
