Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

We're very close to the holiday where we give thanks for everything that's good in our lives... and eat a ton of food while doing it.

Though it can sometimes be overshadowed by Christmas, Thanksgiving is a special holiday to share with your family (although hopefully just your immediate family until safer times next year) and enjoy a massive meal together.

In honor of breaking bread for the momentous occasion, we've found 3 movies that will make you hungry even after you've finished eating.

How can we forget the enormous feast the students of Hogwarts were lucky enough to enjoy? It's no surprise that in this world of wizardry there would be some sort of spell to whip up the most appetizing and bountiful dinner we've ever seen. Plus, turning a room full of empty plates into a plethora of food in an instant is sure to make your stomach rumble a little bit.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

    Children / 2001 / PG

Adaptation of the first of J.K. Rowling's popular children's novels about Harry Potter, a boy who learns on his eleventh birthday that he is the orphaned son of two powerful wizards and possesses unique magical powers of his own. He is summoned from his life as an unwanted child to become a student at Hogwarts, an English boarding school for wizards. There, he meets several friends who become his closest allies and help him discover the truth about his parents' mysterious deaths.

The title says it all. Of the flicks on our list, this is a unique one in that there's more food in this film than actual buildings. Here, you need to be truly wary of certain foods because you never know when a pancake bigger than your house might land on your roof. "Food avalanches" in "Cloudy" are an actual thing.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs

    Animated / 2009 / PG

When hard times hit Swallow Falls, its townspeople can only afford to eat sardines. Flint Lockwood, a failed inventor, thinks he has the answer to the town's crisis. He builds a machine that converts water into food, and becomes a local hero when tasty treats fall from the sky like rain. But when the machine spins out of control and threatens to bury the whole world under giant mounds of food, Flint finds he may have bitten off more than he can chew.

  • Big Night

This is the most realistic pick on our list and for that reason, it will probably make you the hungriest. When two brothers/culinary maestros from Italy try to make a name for themselves in America, but struggle to fund their dream, it takes one epic night of cooking to make ends meet. It's going to take everything they've got to prepare the feast for their party, but it will be well worth it, and it'll have audiences going back for lots of seconds.
