Netflix promised its consumers earlier today that they're releasing at least one new movie each week, and this week is the premiere of Anthony Mackie's "Outside the Wire."
Mackie, who is also a producer on the film, will be playing a character that has elements of some of our favorite roles he's played before.
The main difference between his previous roles and this one is... he's never been a straight-up robot before.
Because we're excited to see him in this new flick, and today is the day we recommend 3 must-stream movies, we've picked out Mackie's top 3 films so far...so that you can be reminded of some of his most epic characters, before checking out a new one this weekend.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
This film was Anthony Mackie's introduction into the MCU as the Falcon and not only did Mackie fulfill his dream of playing a Marvel comic book character (in which he wrote email upon email until Kevin Feige finally gave in and offered him the role) but he also wanted to give African American kids another black superhero to look up to in the MCU.
The Hurt Locker
Mackie was able to earn his spot in this highly rated film due to the fact that the director, Kathryn Bigelow, remembered his amazing performance in another film titled "Half Nelson." After this one, Mackie was able to accompany co-star Jeremy Renner in the MCU films "Avengers: Age of Ultron," "Captain America: Civil War," and "Avengers: Endgame."
The Hate U Give
This drama , based on the young adult book in 2017 with the same name, has Mackie playing a gang leader named King who is widely feared around the neighborhood and is definitely not afraid to hurt anyone who gets in the way of his business or his livelihood. If he feels his gang is threatened in any way, he'll stop at nothing to get revenge.
Jesse is a writer and content manager for Noovie. When he's not working, he's on the beach playing volleyball.
