One Night in Miami
Drama / 2020 / R
On the night of Feb. 25, 1964, in Miami, Cassius Clay joins Jim Brown, Sam Cooke and Malcom X, and they discuss the responsibility of being successful black men during the civil rights movement.
Four men that were pillars of success in the African American community are joining forces for one night in Miami to talk about what they can and should be contributing to the civil rights movement.
In this new trailer for "One Night in Miami...," we see a fictional flashback to February 1964 for a larger-than-life meeting between Malcolm X (Kingsley Ben-Adir), Muhammad Ali (Eli Goree), Jim Brown (Aldis Hodge), and Sam Cooke (Leslie Odom Jr.).
The men plan to meet at Muhammad Ali's hotel room in Miami after his title fight to become heavyweight champion of the world.
After the champ takes his title, and all the men meet to celebrate, Malcolm X takes control of the group to say that instead of partying immediately, they should also be taking some time for reflection to look inward and figure out how they can use their influence and popularity because he believes they have the power to "move mountains without lifting a finger."
This seems to quickly turn into a heated debate with regards to what's going on in the world at that time and what it will take from each one of them to change the culture.
This hypothetical meeting of the greats seems to touch on some emotional and controversial issues stemming from racism and inequality, and these gentlemen discuss their deep-seated problems and fears about the world and their personal lives.
With Regina King in the director’s chair, the idea that these icons getting together in their prime to talk about what they can do to change the world is a very empowering and interesting story.
