The first trailer for upcoming film "Nine Days" gives us what might be the most existential storyline we've seen yet.

Imagine if, before you were born, your unborn soul had to compete for a spot in the real world for nine days...well nine days for whomever makes it to the very end.

The idea that an unborn soul is able to exist in some instance, but might not be guaranteed life, is mind-bendingly original and scary.

The project includes some of Hollywood's newest and brightest stars including Winston Duke, Tony Hale, Bill Skarsgard, Benedict Wong, and Zazie Beetz.

There's not much that we can discern with total certainty about the film's particulars, like what the criteria is for someone to be chosen for life, or what happens to the unborn souls who aren't chosen.

What we do know is that if you are selected, you'll have no recollection of the nine days spent in this before-life dreamworld, but your soul will be exactly as it was when you were accepted.

Winston Duke acts as the liaison to life and from what we can tell, his character spends time individually with all of the others to try to fully observe and understand the depth of their souls, seeing how they react to certain things and analyzing their level of humanity.

With so many talented actors on the docket, it's anyone's game, and only one of them will be given the gift of life (our money's on Zazie Beetz).
