In The Heights
Musical / 2021 / PG-13
Explores three days in the New York City Dominican-American neighborhood of Washington Heights.
Today is a unique version of our trailer breakdown as we'll be analyzing two new trailers for the upcoming Warner Bros. film "In The Heights."
Right from the start, we immediately see the life and energy that these trailers both bring to the table, with the whole neighborhood dancing and singing their hearts out. No joke, it's pretty much impossible to have a bad time watching either of these previews.
Anthony Ramos certainly leads the musical charge as this story has his character, Usnavi de la Vega, trying to educate some young kids about the infamous block in Washington Heights where he used to live. The film also stars Lin-Manuel Miranda, Corey Hawkins, Melissa Barrera, Leslie Grace, Jimmy Smits, Olga Merediz, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Stephanie Beatriz, and Dascha Polanco.
The story of empowerment sends a message that you should never give up on your dreams and do everything you can even if it means barely scraping by for a while to achieve them. "Crazy Rich Asians" director Jon M. Chu is at the helm for this project, so we have high hopes for what the finished product will look like.
As we watch everyone sing and dance together, it makes us want to jump into their story, too, so we can join the live concert happening on their doorstep. When you talk about a special place near and dear to your heart, you're giving it another life beyond what it was to you. Since Usnavi doesn't want Washington Heights to die, he's sharing his story of what the place means to him.
We're super excited to see this Lin-Manuel Miranda-produced musical come to fruition this summer in theaters and streaming exclusively on HBO Max on June 18, 2021.
