The Suicide Squad

Action / 2021

Super-Villains Harley Quinn, Bloodsport, Peacemaker and a collection of cons at Belle Reve prison join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X where they are heavily-armed and dropped off at the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese.

Warner Bros. released the first red-band trailer for "The Suicide Squad" and we're here to break it down for you. "Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn has given us a perfect little teaser to grab your attention. Our band of criminal heroes is back together for the sequel, and with them comes a lot of new faces. Some of our favorite characters like Will Smith's Deadshot are sitting this one out, and due to Jay Hernandez's sacrifice in the previous film, Diablo won't be returning. We'll miss them. But that said, there are a ton of great new baddies joining the mob of outlaws, including Idris Elba as Bloodsport, John Cena as Peacemaker, and many, many more.

The first official trailer for "The Suicide Squad" is everything you would expect it to be. Whether you're looking for snarky exchanges between squad members, outrageously violent and/or explosive sequences, or suicide missions, it's all here. We don't want to give too much away, but someone gets eaten (hence the red band). All the things that make these folks disreputable are the same things that bring them together. In short, they don't give a f*#% about anything.

The extreme action and sarcastically comedic tone are things that make James Gunn the type of director he is. As you might also imagine, the new additions to the gang are still trying to get used to working as a team. Some of the psychos are clearly more powerful than others so they need to be extra careful as they navigate these murky waters. But there's one thing that unites them. On paper, all of their missions are suicidal. Since they don't really have anything to lose, they're perfect for the job.
