It was announced at the beginning of this year that Netflix would be releasing one movie a week. They even released a Netflix 2021 Film Preview trailer showcasing some of the bigger films to expect. Today, Netflix released the first trailer for one of the most anticipated films on that list titled "Red Notice." It stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot. These three very big names have been attached to this film since January and we've been patiently waiting to see what roles they would be playing. And now that they've dropped this new trailer for "Red Notice," we're finally getting some answers. Let's break it down.
'Red Notice': Trailer Breakdown
From this new preview, we've learned that Johnson is taking on the role of FBI agent John Hartley. This agent has been tasked with bringing in two high-level criminals who've recently been stamped with red notices. The first offender he decides to hunt down is Nolan Booth (Ryan Reynolds). Though there is a bit of a struggle, and some broken glass, Hartley is eventually able to capture Booth. After he has Booth in his custody, he employs him to help catch the other lawbreaker that he's after. But agent Hartley will soon come to find that this next wrongdoer won't be as easy to catch. Even with Hartley and Booth working together, the second felon with the red notice is smarter and stronger than both of them. Her name is Sarah Black (Gal Gadot).
One side note that we need to bring up... Gal Gadot is killing it as a villain in this trailer. Gadot is the big baddie of this circus, and she makes it look like so much fun. There's not one frame in this preview that we can find where she's not smiling. She's confident, attractive, and deadly. There's a moment where we see Gadot and Johnson dancing and we can't pinpoint what kind of tension it is per se, but temperatures are definitely rising on the dance floor. This game of cat and mouse is one that we're ready for. Check out the full trailer for yourself by clicking below.
