Noovie's Alt. Movie Pick: I'm Your Woman
Rachel Brosnahan (Amazon's prime star from "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel") stars in this '70s set thriller as a woman and mother on the run after her husband wrongs his business partners. Brosnahan delivers a knockout performance in an original take on the typical crime thriller.

Ryan Murphy brings home his show-stopping musical adaptation of Broadway's "The Prom." The star-studded musical (featuring Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, James Corden, Keegan-Michael Key, and more) follows a troupe of near-washed up Broadway stars who head off to a small Indiana town to support a teen girl who was banned from attending her prom with her girlfriend.

Let Them All Talk
Follow Meryl Streep from her Netflix musical to this breezy HBO Max "dramedy" from director Steven Soderbergh. Streep stars here as a famous author who, in an effort to find fun and happiness once again, takes a cruise with her friends (Candice Bergen and Dianne Wiest) and nephew (Lucas Hedges), while heading out to receive an award. Of course, nothing is ever as simple as those best laid plans, and she soon discovers just how complicated her relationships are.

Wild Mountain Thyme
Emily Blunt dons her best Irish accent with Irish actor Jamie Dornan in this romantic comedy in which farmer Rosemary (Blunt) tries to win the heart of her oblivious neighbor Anthony (Dornan). Anthony has problems of his own as his family looks to sell their farm to an American nephew.
- Where to watch: In theaters (on VOD 12/18)
Filmed during the actual pandemic that we're still so tragically living in, "Songbird" is the first of a handful of films to come out that will put a dramatic spin on these events. The story follows two lovers, one who's immune to the fictional COVID-23 virus, and his girlfriend who's trapped in her apartment on the precipice of heading to a quarantine camp. For those looking for some kind of ironic, morbid escape, this might be it. But if you're really looking for some insight, head to a virtual cinema and watch the doc "76 Days" (as we featured last week).
Before Diego Luna heads back to a galaxy far, far away, he stars here in this grounded drama about new parents Matteo and Adrienne (Luna and Sienna Miller), who are forced to revisit their past troubled relationship while confronting a new trauma.
Hot Indie Trailer - Shadow in the Cloud
As the internet already pointed out, capping off an already strange year is this wild new trailer that just dropped starring Chloë Grace Moretz, in a horror/war hybrid that drew lots of attention during its premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival. Playing out like a twisted "Twilight Zone" episode, Moretz stars as a WWII mechanic pilot who confronts an evil presence on board a B-17 bomber, while on a mission to deliver top secret documents.
- In theaters and on VOD January 1st
