Emerald Fennell's breakout dramedy is nominated for five Oscars. It's also the front-runner for most of those categories. Without question, this includes Best Actress for Carey Mulligan's knockout performance. And director Fennell made history with "Nomadland" director Chloe Zhao. They became the first two women directors to compete for Best Director in the same year.

Shaka King's "Judas and the Black Messiah" is a late-season entry in a season that spanned into 2021 due to the pandemic. "Judas" first debuted in February where it got a ton of attention. The more we think about it, this could actually work in its favor as it's probably the freshest on the minds of Oscar voters.

Chloe Zhao's "Nomadland" has been sweeping up awards this season. The drama won Best Motion Picture - Drama at the Golden Globes. And Zhao took the win at the Directors Guild Awards. And then on top of that, the movie took top honors at the Producers Guild Awards. With such accolades already under its belt, "Nomadland" could just be the movie that takes home the top prize this Sunday.
