Raya and the Last Dragon
Fantasy / 2021 / PG
Long ago, in the fantasy world of Kumandra, humans and dragons lived together in harmony. Now, 500 years later, those same monsters have returned, and it's up to a lone warrior to track down the last dragon and stop the Druun for good.
Disney's upcoming animated film "Raya and the Last Dragon" is a little over a week away from its release, so to get you pumped up about it, we're bringing you some exclusive interviews with the writers, voice actors and director of the film.
Awkwafina, who voices Sisu the dragon, boasts that "the animation on this movie is on a totally different level, and it's amazing!" And, what's even more amazing about this awe-inspiring animation is that it was all done from animators working at their own homes. Due to the pandemic, most all of the collaboration between teams when developing the story was done virtually.
Director Don Hall expresses that the only way this film was possible to create under these circumstances was because of the collective passion that everyone shares for these films. He goes on to say he believes this may be one of the most beautiful Disney films we've ever seen.
Following the director's comments, Kelly Marie Tran, who voices female warrior Raya, echoes his sentiment that the film is beautiful aesthetically and emotionally, sharing relatable and important themes, with one of those themes centered around learning how to find the goodness in the world. After hearing such heartfelt and enthusiastic comments from the cast and crew, we're ready to go on this adventure with Raya on her search for the last dragon. The film will be available in select theaters and Disney+ Premier Access on March 5, 2021
