Hutch Mansell fails to defend himself or his family when two thieves break into his suburban home one night. The aftermath of the incident soon strikes a match to his long-simmering rage. In a barrage of fists, gunfire and squealing tires, Hutch must now save his wife and son from a dangerous adversary -- and ensure that he will never be underestimated again.
In just a day, Bob Odenkirk's action film "Nobody" opens in theaters. Before the debut, we were able to get a little one-on-one time with the cast and crew in our Noovie Backlot.
Noovie Backlot: Ideation of the Film
During the interview (linked at the bottom of the article here), Odenkirk mentions that part of the inspiration for the unconventional flick was that he experienced a few break-ins himself. Those experiences sparked the flame to create the film. From there, filmmakers changed the narrative in a way that would empower their main character. Instead of Odenkirk's character being a strictly suburban father, they made him a suburban father with a not-so-suburban past.
Odenkirk in Action
Director Ilya Naishuller says that when he read the script, he immediately knew it would be great. When he first saw Odenkirk in real action, he described it as "electric." From the few clips we've seen, too, Odenkirk unleashes some hardcore wrath on anyone who gets in his way. As a result, the alum from the Emmy-winning TV show "Breaking Bad" looks like he'll break bad in this flick.
An Unlikely Team
Actor RZA talks about the formation of the team in the movie. He points out that you wouldn't expect to see this group of misfits in an action film. He compares it to the first guy who put cheese and pickles on a burger. It might seem like a bad idea. But then you taste it.
This ordinary man with an abnormal team does his best get rid of the skeletons in his closet. After hearing the details, we're ready for the rage and violence Odenkirk has to give.
