The upcoming battle that everyone's talking about may be the biggest crusade hitting theaters this fall. The clash of houses commences this weekend in "Dune." It features the honorable House Atreides helping the native Fremen who'll take on the brutal House Harkonnen. Only one house can win and the one that does will rule the planet Arrakis.
To get you excited about Momoa's character Duncan Idaho and his role in this campaign, we've selected three Jason Momoa movies that you should check out before watching "Dune" this weekend in theaters.
Zack Snyder's Justice League
This film features Jason Momoa's most beloved character Aquaman. Originally, Aquaman was first introduced in the original "Justice League" from 2017. But this film was the Zack Snyder director's cut that hadn't seen the light of day until recently. Though Momoa had a great performance in the first iteration, "Zack Snyder's Justice League" did his character justice. If this had been the version of the film that was released from the start, who knows how much more praise his standalone film "Aquaman" might have received thereafter (it's also quite good and deserves a watch). The long-haired, tattooed muscle man took what we think of Aquaman and redefined the character entirely. The role is what proved to Hollywood that Jason Momoa is a top rising star.
If you want to get a sense of how bad to the bone Momoa can be, check out this movie. In the film Momoa plays a simple family man who's just trying to go check on his cabin. When he and his father find out that drug smugglers have stashed all of their product there, they have no choice but to go into survival mode. One thing you can count on when Momoa is trapped in a cabin in the woods, he can turn pretty much anything he finds into a weapon. If these bad guys were smart, they would just take their drugs and leave. But we all know that's never what happens in these movies. Good luck going up against a wild-at-heart Jason Momoa.
The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part
Currently, Momoa's highest-rated film on Rotten Tomatoes is this animated flick. And he plays a character that we definitely recognize. We're talking about the LEGO version of Aquaman! That's right, we get to see a LEGO version of Aquaman sculpted in Jason Momoa's image. Funnily enough, he's the only member of the Justice League who's actually voicing the LEGO version of his character. For instance, Channing Tatum voices Superman and Cobie Smulders voices Wonder Woman. So, kudos to Momoa for playing ball and giving the fans what they want. As much as we enjoy new, fun voices depicting our heroes, we really love having a more crazy, zany version of a character from the actor who plays him in live action.
Jesse is a writer and content manager for Noovie. When he's not working, he's on the beach playing volleyball.
