Golden Globes 2020 - Full Winners List

"1917" and "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" are the front-runners in the awards race, as they nabbed big wins at the Golden Globe Awards last night.

It was a golden night that began with a fiery opening monologue from five-time host Ricky Gervais and ended with big wins for Sony's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" and Universal's "1917." Both films claimed wins in their respective Best Picture categories. Quentin Tarantino's love letter to Hollywood's Golden Age, also took home awards for Best Screenplay (Tarantino) and Best Supporting Actor (Brad Pitt).

Sam Mendes took home a Best Director win for his WWI drama. Sony's three wins for "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" puts them a head in the awards race, but "1917" remains the one to really look out for as the movie's release expands to more cities and theaters this week.

Other interesting wins include "Missing Link" over Disney's three sure bets in the Best Animated Film category ("Frozen II," "Toy Story 4," and "The Lion King") -- a big first-time win for studio Laika, whose film struggled at the box office earlier in the year. Joaquin Phoenix also grabbed the award for Best Actor in a Drama for "Joker" -- no real surprise here, though Adam Driver's performance in "Marriage Story" seemed like a sure thing. Leonardo DiCaprio also seemed like a good bet for the Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy category, but that award went to Taron Egerton for his mesmerizing performance as Elton John in "Rocketman." Also notable was "Joker's" other win from composer Hildur Guðnadóttir for her film score, thereby becoming the first woman to win an award in this category.

A special award should also go to Tom Hanks, who, along with his Cecil B. DeMille Award for his lifetime achievement in acting, gave us this meme-able moment during Gervais' monologue.
