We've seen so many of Disney's majestic princesses highlighted in the past, but what about their iconic and dark counterparts? Here, we're happy to provide some long-overdue recongition to Disney's other memorable do-badders. This rag-tag group of poison-makers, witches, and just plain wicked women will remind you to always be wary of those strangers with the wide grins and the mischievous twinkles in their eyes. So without further ado, here is our list of Disney villainesses ranked from the least cruel to the most sinister.
#12 - Madame Medusa ('The Rescuers')
Proprietor of a seedy pawn shop, and even seedier plans for our animated heroes.
#11 - Queen Narissa ('Enchanted')
Able to transform into all kinds of vindictive beings (dragon, hag, evil overlord), Narissa is beastly and unforgettable in all of her forms.
Children / 2007 / PG
#10 - Madam Mim ('The Sword in the Stone')
Don't let her old maid's cast-off appearance deceive you. Mim's a witch with powers on the level of Merlin himself.
#9 - Lady Tremaine ('Cinderella')
The original wicked stepmother is still a baddie to behold, who's definitely not going to let any of her enemies relax for a night out on the town.
#8 - Mother Gothel ('Tangled')
Taking her designed look from singer Cher, the villainess from "Tangled" is a whirlwind diva of the dark arts.
#7 - Mary, Winnie, & Sarah Sanderson ('Hocus Pocus')
They're crafty villainesses, and also quite hilarious: Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy, the all-star witch trio for the ages.
#6 - Yzma ('The Emperor's New Groove')
What she lacks in weight she makes up for in an overabundance of power-hungry tendencies, and a knack for major trouble.
#5 - Cruella de Vil ('One Hundred and One Dalmatians')
Cruel and devilish combine in this villainess who's popular enough to have appeared in multiple animated and live-action projects, including the newest film "Cruella", and even her own book.
#4 - The Queen of Hearts ('Alice in Wonderland')
Easily offended, and quick to dispense the death sentence, the Queen of Hearts is recognized for her large appetite for cruel and undeserved punishments.
#3 - The Evil Queen ('Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs')
Aka the Wicked Queen, or just the Queen, the baddie with the given name Queen Grimhilde actually looks like she might make a good-natured beauty queen if given the right makeover.
#2 - Maleficent ('Sleeping Beauty')
While audiences nowadays may be more familiar with the Angelina Jolie version, the original's still a worthy go-to villainess, with the cartoon looks and appeal to wreak all sorts of havoc, and the self-proclaimed title of "Mistress of All Evil."
#1 - Ursula ('The Little Mermaid')
While she may have seemed like a good Samaritan by allowing Ariel a chance to become human and seek out true love...eh, it's all just a ruse to become the ruler of the deep, which earns Ursula our top spot on our ranked list of Disney villainesses.
