After being deprived of Marvel's iconic superhero movies for roughly two years, Phase Four will finally begin with the release of "Black Widow" today. We can't express in words how much we've been looking forward to getting back to theaters just so we can be awed by another MCU film. And not only that, but now we're getting our chance to see behind the facade that is Black Widow. We know she's a day one Avenger with a tough exterior. But we don't know who she really is and where she came from. If you're an MCU fan like we are, then you've probably been dying to find out more about her. And in this film, they're going back to where it all began. But, before deciding whether or not you're going to go watch "Black Widow" in theaters, you need the facts first.

  • The carefully choreographed fight scenes are flawless and only increase in intensity with every obstacle that these characters must face.
  • Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh are sensational, not only with their execution of impressive action sequences but also their comedic timing.
  • The CGI and special effects are mind blowing but in a way that it makes these extreme circumstances actually feel plausible.
  • This new concept acts as an origin story but also plays into the ongoing MCU narrative. It creates complex problems which are solved by inventive and intelligent solutions.

Or Not...

  • There are some instances during fight sequences that seem a little too outrageous, and not believable, as something that would naturally occur.
  • At times, the action may feel like it outweighs the story.
  • In some ways, this can feel like a story in between two more epic stories. The film tries to cater to the future of the MCU as well as answering questions about the past. This can force the story to be stretched a little thin in both directions.
