    Lara Croft: Tomb Raider

One of Jolie's earliest and also most iconic characters is that of the infamous Lara Croft who originated from the Tomb Raider video game franchise. For context, she's been referred to as the female Indiana Jones for fans of that franchise. But really, she needs no comparison. Jolie was the perfect choice to embody this archaeological renegade hero. In 2003, she was even able to reprise her role in "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life."

    Mr. & Mrs. Smith

Moving along, here's the film where the world got their first taste of Brangelina. This is arguably Jolie's most badass character to date and one of her most underrated films. When she wasn't playing the loving, suburban wife, she was using her skills and training to assassinate high-level targets for a secret agency. Her character's double life is similar in many ways to the life of a superhero because in order to remain most effective, you have to be able to hide in plain sight.

The next pick on our list of Angelina Jolie movies has her portraying an assassin once more. But now she has the ability to curve bullets. She plays the character of Fox, a seasoned executioner and member of a group known as the Fraternity. The hired guns who make up this squad operate by receiving coded names of their targets from a device called the "Loom of Fate." Once they track down these new targets, they kill them. It's as simple as that. Jolie's character Fox can curve a bullet so well you'd think she was a superhero.

    Salt

This movie has Jolie playing a CIA officer who's being set up to make it look like she's a Russian spy. Essentially, once the allegation is made, Jolie makes her escape and it's her against the CIA. In many ways, you could say it shares a likeness to Harrison Ford's "The Fugitive." And she proves again that she's the perfect star to headline a project like this.

    Maleficent

Finally, this is our number one pick if you only have time to watch one of these Angelina Jolie movies. It's the most magical film of the bunch. The live-action origin story of Disney's iconic character Maleficent is one where we really get to see the "Sleeping Beauty" villain in a new light. The reimaging of the original animated narrative sees Maleficent's malevolence born from her own personal tragedy rather than coming from an innate wickedness. See Jolie as a Disney villain. And then see what she's like as a hero in "Eternals."
